## Test Execution

To run these tests:

```bash
# Run all agent tests
python -m pytest tests/unit/test_agent_*.py tests/unit/test_ollama_*.py tests/unit/test_builtin_tools_new.py -v
# Run specific test file
python -m pytest tests/unit/test_agent_cli.py -v
# Run specific test class
python -m pytest tests/unit/test_agent_cli.py::TestBuildAgent -v
# Run specific test method
python -m pytest tests/unit/test_agent_cli.py::TestBuildAgent::test_build_agent_ollama_default_model -v
# Run with coverage
python -m pytest tests/unit/test_agent_*.py --cov=agent --cov-report=html
```

Or using unittest:

```bash
# Run all tests
python -m unittest discover tests/unit -p "test_agent*.py" -p "test_ollama*.py" -p "test_builtin*.py"
# Run specific file
python -m unittest tests/unit/test_agent_cli.py
# Run specific test
python -m unittest tests.unit.test_agent_cli.TestBuildAgent.test_build_agent_ollama_default_model
```

## Test Quality Attributes

### Comprehensive Coverage
- ✅ Happy paths (expected behavior)
- ✅ Edge cases (empty inputs, boundary conditions)
- ✅ Error conditions (invalid inputs, missing dependencies)
- ✅ Integration points (mocking external dependencies)

### Best Practices
- ✅ Descriptive test names
- ✅ Clear docstrings
- ✅ setUp/tearDown where appropriate
- ✅ Proper mocking of external dependencies
- ✅ Assertion messages for clarity
- ✅ Test isolation (no shared state between tests)

### Maintainability
- ✅ Organized by functionality
- ✅ Reusable mock classes (MockModel)
- ✅ Consistent patterns across test files
- ✅ Comments explaining complex scenarios

## Files Changed vs. Tests Created

| Changed File | Test File | Status |
|--------------|-----------|--------|
| agent/cli.py | tests/unit/test_agent_cli.py | ✅ Complete |
| agent/core/agent.py | tests/unit/test_agent_core.py | ✅ Complete |
| agent/models/ollama.py | tests/unit/test_ollama_model.py | ✅ Complete |
| agent/tools/builtin.py | tests/unit/test_builtin_tools_new.py | ✅ Complete |
| `agent/models/__init__.py` | (No test needed - simple import) | N/A |
| pyproject.toml | (Configuration file) | N/A |
| requirements.txt | (Dependency file) | N/A |

## Notes

1. **Mock Usage**: Tests use mocking extensively to avoid external dependencies (HTTP requests, Ollama server, OpenAI API).

2. **Isolation**: Each test is independent and doesn't rely on side effects from other tests.

3. **Real Dependencies**: Tests import real agent modules but mock external I/O operations.

4. **Extensibility**: Test structure allows easy addition of new test cases as functionality evolves.

5. **CI/CD Ready**: Tests are designed to run in automated environments without external service dependencies.

## Future Enhancements

Consider adding:
- Integration tests with real Ollama server (if available in CI)
- Performance/benchmark tests for math.calc with complex expressions
- More edge cases for tool argument normalization
- Tests for concurrent tool calls (when allow_parallel_tools is enabled)
- End-to-end tests combining CLI, agent, and tools
